Thought for the Day --

A tiny fragrance of Christ is more beautiful than all the lilies of the field.

The Chains of Sin

'Twas a confinement once used to pull --

To restrain and hold us down;

But the shackles are all now broken

And no longer meshed around ...

OUR HEARTS.

These chains twisted and linked so carefully

To seduce and repress the soul

They were fastened to instill corruption

And within their power to behold ...

WAS A PRISON OF DARKNESS.

But liberation came and immunity was given

When the Lord Jesus Christ died and rose again --

It was then He fearlessly led the captives free

To triumph through this wilderness of sin ...

WE ARE DELIVERED.

A Splendorous Moment!

Some day God's children shall gaze upon the One

Whose name, they are unworthy to speak

Their hearts will be astounded with captivating awe ...

As they kneel and worship at His feet.

In His presence they'll know pristine holiness,

And divine supremacy will demand

A blissful reunion of creator and creature

'Tis more infinite than they can understand.

Beholding His glory, their joy abounds ...

As they are robed in white garments and golden crowns;

On a glassy seas of gold they will all praise His name --

HOLY, HOLY, HOLY ...

Forever to remain!

A Haven of Rest

Father,

It was in the time of Noah that you saw the great wickedness of man in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. You said it repented the Lord that He had made man on the earth, and how it grieved Him at His heart.

Father, we are grateful that you have set us apart in Christ, yet we remember that we, too, have sinned against you in this life. We thank you for not destroying us from before your face, but instead that you have restored us unto your bosom, in the Lord Jesus Christ. We thank you that you have given us newness of heart; a heart that grieves when we cause you grief. We thank you, Father, because as you once bestowed grace upon Noah, your eyes have looked upon us thusly -- and, as Noah once walked with you, we, too, are privileged to step humbly there.

As you look upon the earth, we pray that you would not be angered -- that you would not be grieved. We pray that you might embrace your children and use them to shatter the earthly darkness that binds the hearts of its habitation -- the darkness that causes grief within your heart.

As Noah was once sealed into an ark of gopher wood for protection and safety ~ we, too, know that you have sealed us into your ark of the Holy Spirit. You have called unto us; we have heard your call and we undeservingly enter in. Send in to us, we pray those specimens of life and love that you would have us nurture throughout our journey atop these worldly seas. Amen.

The Privilege of Prayer

We all reach times in our lives when no human help is available or when the help humans offers is not sufficient to meet our needs. That is when it is to God alone that we must turn.

If we love the Lord and appreciate the privilege of prayer, we certainly will not wait for such occasions to speak to Him. Instead, we will approach Him regularly and frequently. He will always hear our expressions of thanksgiving and praise, as well as our petitions and requests.

Prayer reveals an openhearted recognition of our complete dependence on God for everything. It draws us close to fellow worshippers, and brings upon us the peace of the loving Creator. Prayer promotes the flow of God's Holy Spirit in our lives and helps us to be confident about the future. Prayer is a gift ... it is conversation with God.
